National Day of Prayer

Why a National Day of Prayer?

Do we have to make God aware of the problems we're all facing? If so, then God is not omniscient.

If God is in fact omniscient, He sees all the injustices and horrors in this world that we so earnestly pray for him to rid us of. Furthermore, it is said in the Bible that 'with God all things are possible' (Matt 19:26). So God is also omnipotent. However, James 4:17 says, "Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins." Therefore, knowing how to do right by His innocent children here on Earth and having the capabilities to spare them all misery and pain and yet refusing to do so, God does sin. By Christian standards, God is imperfect. Otherwise, God is not omnipotent.

What does it mean if God blesses the prayers of 100 people who want to raise enough money to renovate their church, but ignores the child praying in tears every night to be free of his abusive father?

Shall we pray to this God?
